Starting your therapy experience at Vienna Praxis

Good and effective therapeutic work is all about finding the right match. 

That’s why, we make an effort to learn as much as possible about your personal preferences before you start your first session. This helps us to identify your unique clinical needs and enables us to collaborate with you on finding the best therapeutic fit. 

From a clinical standpoint, we recommend in person work, but we also offer remote sessions if you prefer that option.

Here are some examples of questions that can be helpful to clarify upfront:

  • Are you open to be working with either a male or a female clinician or do you have a preference ? 

  • Would you like to work with one of our psychologists in person or do you prefer remote sessions?

  • For in person work, do you have a preference for the Flatiron or West Village location?

  • Are you interested in a psychologist with an LGBTQ specialization? 

  • Do you only have availability at certain times during the week, for example, only after 5pm or before 10am?

  •  Do you have a preference for a psychologist with an international background or a specific language skill in addition to English?

  • Would you like to pursue in-depth therapeutic treatment with two to three weekly sessions?

We are aware that practical questions, like the fee structure and the affordability of therapy as well as a better understanding of your insurance coverage, are equally essential before starting the work. 

This is why Randi, our clinical care coordinator, will reach out to you before your first session to help determine insurance coverage and the reimbursement package of your out-of-network plan.  If insurance coverage is not available, sliding scale fee options will be offered and discussed.
